MIAMI (Aug. 3, 2023) – The FIU men's soccer team will open the 2023 season ranked No. 21 according to the United Soccer Coaches preseason rankings. The Panthers received 53 total points in the poll.

FIU is the only team in Florida and one of three American Athletic Conference teams to crack the top 25. Tulsa is ranked No. 16 and SMU is ranked No. 19.
 
The Panthers' 2023 schedule now features four top 25 matches. Joining Tulsa and SMU is No. 22 Akron and No. 23 New Hampshire.
 
FIU is coming off one its best seasons in program history, going 14-5-1, the most wins since 2003, and a 6-2-1 conference record. FIU won The American regular season and postseason tournament championships in the program's first season in the conference.
 
The Panther also made their 12th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, making it to the third round for the third time. The Panthers were the No. 10 overall seed in the tournament.
 
The 2023 season kicks off August 24 on the road against Oregon State.
