EL PASO, TEXAS — The FIU softball team (29-14, 11-7) is on the road this weekend for a three-game series against UTEP (16-24, 5-13), beginning with a 6 p.m. matchup tonight followed by 1 p.m. tilts each of the next two days.
Each game of the series will be aired on ESPN+ with live stats also available for the entire weekend.
Including this weekend, FIU has three weekends left of regular season play before heading into the Conference USA tournament. The Panthers are currently tied for second in the league standings with Louisiana Tech and Sam Houston, although Jacksonville State (10-8), New Mexico State (9-9) and Middle Tennessee (9-9) aren't far behind.
In the series finale this past weekend against Louisiana Tech, FIU's
Kennedy Byrd had a six-game hitting streak snapped, although she contributed with a walk and a run. With her 2-for-4 performance,
Kally Meredith enters this weekend with at least one hit in 10 of the past 12 games.
Bailey Grossenbacher tallied a season-high three RBIs in the finale, as well, which was her fourth multi-RBI effort of the campaign.
Paige Miller has hits in 11 of her past 13 games, including six multi-hit performances.
