MIAMI – FIU men's soccer freshman Johan Helan has been named the American Conference Freshman of the Week, while junior Pasquale Capriati earned a spot on the American Weekly Honor Roll, the league office announced Monday.

Helan received recognition after a breakout week, recording a goal in each of FIU's matches for a total of four points. The Saint-Denis, France, native scored his first career goal with a header on the road at South Carolina on Tuesday, Sept. 2, before following it up with a right-footed strike in Saturday's home match against Stony Brook on Saturday, Sept. 6

Helan is tied for the team lead in goals (2), ranks second in minutes played (363), and has started all five matches for the Panthers.

Capriati earned his first honor roll nod of the season after posting a goal and two assists across the two contests. The Altamura, Italy, native netted his second career goal against South Carolina before registering a two-assist performance versus Stony Brook on Saturday, Sept. 6.

He currently leads FIU with seven points and 10 shots, while sharing the team and conference lead in assists (3). Capriati has appeared in all five matches this season.

This marks the first time both Helan and Capriati have received weekly conference honors in their Panther careers.
