MIAMI – The FIU baseball program fell to Boston College, 4-0, Tuesday evening at FIU Baseball Stadium.
FIU (7-6) surrendered three runs across the opening three innings as the Eagles secured the midweek shutout.
Boston College plated single runs in the first, second and third innings on RBI singles off midweek starter Julian Mlodzinski to build a 3-0 lead. The Eagles added an insurance run in the eighth capitalizing on a pair of FIU errors to extend the advantage to 4-0.
Mlodzinski took his first loss of the season, tossing three innings while allowing two earned runs with one strikeout.
Out of the bullpen, Tyrus Riley and Mason Koczwara provided a bright spot, combining for four scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. Riley fired two no-hit frames with three punchouts, while Koczwara followed with two shutout innings and four strikeouts.
Jordan Vargas recorded two outs in relief, Tyler Mecchella made an appearance, and Rene Lastres worked 1.1 innings with one strikeout.
Offensively, FIU was limited to three hits. Aidan Cohall and Vicente Feliciano each doubled, while Preston Leon added a single.
