Baseball Hosts Florida Atlantic in Midweek Action

Tuesday will mark the fourth and final meeting of the season against the Owls

MIAMI – FIU's baseball program returns home to host the Florida Atlantic Owls in a midweek contest Tuesday evening at FIU Baseball Stadium.

FIU (8-20) looks to bounce back after being swept at Liberty this past weekend, as the Panthers begin a four-game homestand with Louisiana Tech also set to visit.

Tuesday will mark the fourth and final meeting between the two South Florida programs, after FIU dropped all three games in a home-and-home series from March 6–8.

Offensively, FIU has totaled 215 hits, including 33 home runs, ranking fifth in CUSA, while driving in 146 RBI.

Cooper Rasmussen leads the offense with a team-best .329 average in 22 games, along with seven home runs (second on the team) and 12 RBI. He is coming off a four-hit weekend at Liberty, totaling three RBI and two homers from the leadoff spot. The junior is currently on a 13-game on-base streak, recording 18 hits, five homers, and eight RBI during that stretch. Through nine CUSA games, he is tied for fourth with seven hits.

Andrew Ildefonso has started all 28 games, leading the team with 30 hits while ranking second in RBI (20) and adding eight doubles. Aidan Cohall leads the team with 13 doubles, which is tied for first in Conference USA and ranks fourth nationally.

Mario Trivella paces the team in power with eight home runs and 25 RBI, both team highs, while his home run total ranks fourth in CUSA. He has appeared in 27 of FIU's 28 games this season.

Samuel Fischer has been an on-base presence, drawing 23 walks and being hit by 11 pitches—both team highs. His 11 hit-by-pitches rank third in the conference. The junior infielder has appeared in all 28 games and has driven in 13 runs.

Cole Cleveland showcased his power at Liberty with a home run on Friday, March 27, while reaching base five times over the weekend, including four walks. He has totaled nine RBI along with five doubles, one triple, and two home runs. Luca Reyes is tied for second on the team with 20 RBI and has appeared in 26 games this season.

On the mound, FIU has logged 241 innings with 226 strikeouts, ranking seventh in CUSA. Preston Prince made his fourth start of the season on March 27 at Liberty, striking out a career-high seven batters over a career-best five innings.

Tyrus Riley owns a 2.75 ERA across 19.2 innings with 21 strikeouts, while Julian Mlodzinski leads the team with 31 innings pitched. Enrique Sierra turned in a career-high 3.1 innings in his start on Saturday at Liberty.

FIU will meet Florida Atlantic for the 145th time in a series that dates back to 1981. The Owls hold an 88-56 advantage.

SCOUTING THE OWLS
Florida Atlantic enters with a 15-13 overall record after dropping a road series at Rice.

Nick Romano leads the team with 34 hits and carries a .330 batting average, along with 12 RBI and two home runs. John Martinez leads the team with 17 RBI. Michael Perazza owns a team-best .379 average with three home runs and 16 RBI, while Marshall Lipsey is batting .260 with 15 RBI.

On the mound, James Litman leads the staff with 46 strikeouts. Kide Adetuyi holds a 3.12 ERA over 34.1 innings, while Bryan Boully has recorded a team-high three saves. Zach Kilby owns a 1.80 ERA in 25 innings pitched.
