FIU Baseball Makes Leadership Change

5/22/2026 2:20:00 PM

MIAMI – The FIU baseball program had a leadership change on Friday as Rich Witten concluded his four-year tenure with the Panthers.

Witten accumulated 98 career victories with FIU, produced multiple MLB Draft picks and led the Panthers to the Conference USA Tournament in both 2024 and 2025 – the program's first appearances since 2018.

"I'd like to thank Rich for his passion and dedication to FIU over the past four years," said Director of Athletics Scott Carr. "The program today is in a better position than it was in 2022, and that's a testament to Rich, his staff and the student-athletes they recruited and coached. Decisions like these are never easy, and we wish all the best to Rich, his wife, Natalie, and their family."

Under Witten's guidance, FIU bettered its win total in each of his first three seasons – 21 (2023) to 27 (2024) to 31 (2025) – but recently completed a 19-35 campaign.
