SHUMEN, BULGARIA– Former FIU men's basketball guard Zawdie Jackson has signed a professional contract with BC Shumen in the NBL (Bulgaria), the team announced. He becomes the third Panther from the 2025-26 team to sign a professional contract, joining teammate Corey Stephenson (Detroit Pistons) and Julian Mackey (Leicester Riders).

Jackson had a standout season for FIU running the point, averaging 12.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists, leading the team with 96 total assists. Jackson scored double digits 20 times and had three or more assists in 20 of those games, finishing third in the league and third in program history in a single season with his 86.9% free throw percentage. His 133 free throws made were sixth in FIU history, including a stretch from 2/21-3/10 with 25 consecutive FT makes, the second-longest consecutive streak in program history.

One of his most notable performances during the season was back near his home haunts at Kennesaw State, scoring a D1-high 25 points against the Owls on Jan. 14. Jackson was magnificent down the stretch as the Panthers clinched a spot in the conference tournament, scoring 20+ in back-to-back games on Feb. 14 and Feb. 19 and surpassed 500 career assists in the season finale on Mar. 7.
