FIU Snaps Middle Tennessee's 14-Game Home Win Streak with 58-51 Victory

Box Score MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (Dec. 20, 2012) – The FIU women's basketball team picked up its fourth-straight victory with a 58-51 win at Middle Tennessee on Thursday night at the Murphy Center, snapping MT's 14-game home win streak and the Blue Raiders' 17-game regular season Sun Belt Conference win streak.

The win marked FIU's second-ever victory in Murfreesboro, and the Panthers' first road win over the Blue Raiders since the 2001-02 season. With the win, FIU improves to 6-4 (2-2 SBC) while MT falls to 6-5 (1-1 SBC).

MT led by as many as six in the first half, going ahead 24-18 with 4:12 remaining on the clock. FIU would then close out the stanza on a 7-0 run, taking a 25-24 advantage into the halftime break.

In the second half, the Blue Raiders fought back to within one at 45-44 with 4:43 left to play before junior Jerica Coley scored five-straight points to put FIU ahead, 50-44. Over the final 1:36 of the contest, Coley and senior Carmen Miloglav combined for a perfect 8-of-8 mark from the free throw line, lifting FIU to a 58-51 victory.

Coley led all scorers with 23 points, as she has now scored in double-figures in nine of 10 contests this season and in 66 of 76 career games. The 2012-13 SBC Preseason
Player of the Year jumped two spots on the FIU all-time scoring chart with her sixth, 20-plus point outing of the year, putting her career point total at 1,517 – a mark which
ranks fifth in program history.

Miloglav chipped in with a season-high 12 points against MT while posting team-high-tying marks of four assists and two steals. Junior Finda Mansare registered team-bests of
four assists, two blocks and seven rebounds, as sophomore Zsofia Labady and junior Marita Davydova also contributed seven boards apiece, and Labady tallied a pair of steals.

As a team, FIU shot 46.8 percent (22-of-47) from the floor while holding MT to 32.8 percent (20-of-61) shooting for the night. The Panthers out-rebounded the Blue Raiders, 42-32, and FIU dished out 12 assists compared to just six helpers for MT. The Blue Raiders tallied 11 steals in comparison to six swipes for the Panthers, while MT posted three
blocks versus two stops for FIU.

FIU will return to action on Dec. 29 when the Panthers host Northeastern as part of the 28th-annual Sun & Fun Classic, held at U.S. Century Bank Arena on Dec. 29-30. Georgia Tech and Quinnipiac will also compete in the event, and a complete schedule can be found at www.FIUSports.com.
