DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 21, 2013) – A pair of double-doubles by seniors Tymell Murphy and Rakeem Buckles led the FIU men's basketball team (6-2) to an 82-67 win over the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats (2-3) while extending the program's current winning streak to six games.
 
Murphy led all scorers with a season-high 24 points, shooting 5-of-9 from the floor and 13-of-14 from the free-throw line. The Brooklyn, N.Y., native tied the school record for consecutive free-throws made (13 – Patrick McDonald vs. Arizona – Dec. 1, 1986). Murphy also grabbed 11 boards for his fifth double-double of the season and the 13th of his FIU career. Buckles added 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting, while setting a career mark in rebounding with 15 boards versus the Wildcats.
 
Freshman Jason Boswell notched his first-career double-digit scoring performance, producing a career-high 13 points on 3-of-4 shooting from the floor. The Bronx, N.Y., native also converted a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. Junior Marco Porcher Jimenez notched a season-high 14 points, draining four 3-pointers of 5-of-12 shooting.            
 
FIU, which did not trail at all in the contest, held a 41-38 edge over the Wildcats in the final 20 minutes, resulting in the team's second-straight road victory, while improving the Panthers to 2-0 all-time versus Bethune-Cookman.        
 
The Panthers entered halftime up 41-29 following a trey by Murphy as time expired. FIU was led by Murphy's 17 points followed Buckles, who poured in 12. The Panthers shot 37.9 percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes and were 16-of-19 from the free-throw line (84.2 percent).
 
For the game, FIU shot 43.1 percent for the game on 22-of-51 from the floor and converted 33.3 percent (7-of-21) from beyond the arc. FIU made 31-of-39 from the charity stripe for a season-high percentage of 79.5 percent. The Panthers out-rebounded the Wildcats, 49-30, including 18 offensive boards to just 13 for B-CU.
 
The Panthers will next head to Columbia, S.C., to face the South Carolina Gamecocks on Sunday, Nov. 24. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. from the Colonial Life Arena. The will be broadcast on FOX Sports South and FOX Sports Carolina with Andy Demetra and Eddie Fogler making the call.
