MIAMI (March 4, 2014) – The FIU women's tennis team (2-3) fell to the Boston College Eagles (8-4), 5-2, on Tuesday afternoon at the FIU Tennis Courts.
The Panthers fell behind, 1-0, dropping the doubles points with losses by freshmen
Nina Nagode and
Tina Mohorcic (8-0, to the duo of Jessica Wacnik and Lexi Borr) at the No. 1 position and sophomore
Aleksandra Trifunovic and freshman
Valentina Briceno (8-6, to BC's Katya Wasilyev and Wan-Yi Sweeting) at the No. 2 spot.
FIU collected two points in singles action as senior
Giulietta Boha picked up her 10th-straight singles win, 6-1, 2-6, retired, over Sweeting and sophomore
Carlotta Orlando earned her first singles victory of the spring with a 7-6 (1), 6-2 win over Wacnik.
Boston College registered points in the other four singles matches to claim the 5-2 win.
FIU will next travel to Northridge, Calf., to take on Cal. State Northridge on Thursday, March 6. First serve is set for 5:00 p.m. ET.
