Box Score MIAMI (April 1, 2014) – The FIU baseball team (23-6) picked up its second victory over Bethune-Cookman this season, an 8-4 win over the Wildcats at the FIU Baseball Stadium Tuesday evening. Sophomore
Edwin Rios drove in four runs in the victory.
Junior Mike Ellis tied for the team lead in wins, earning his fifth victory, this one in relief. Senior

Mike Gomez combined for one hit allowed in three innings of relief. Rios, senior
Tyler Hibbert and junior
Roche Woodard each had two hits in the win.
The Panthers plated their first run in the fourth inning, coming on two outs. Earlier in the inning, junior
Josh Anderson walked with two outs. Junior
Brian Portelli singled and
Brandon Gomez delivered an RBI single giving FIU a 1-0 lead.
The two-out runs continued as the Panthers scored four runs on two outs in the fifth. Junior

Aramis Garcia and Anderson reached on a walk, hit and intentional walk, respectively to load the bases. Rios ripped a single to center field to plate two runs. B-CU shortstop Shaun McCarty committed an error in Portelli's at-bat, scoring two runs to give FIU the lead.
Back-to-back walks to lead off the sixth inning for Woodard and Hibbert allowed for three more runs to score. Garcia drove in the first run on a sacrifice fly. Then with runners on the corners, Rios drove in two more on a double to give FIU an 8-4 advantage.
FIU is back in action this weekend, hosting a three-game set with Old Dominion. Friday's first pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
