Box Score MIAMI (April 20, 2014) – FIU Baseball (27-12, 11-10) dropped its series finale to Florida Atlantic (21-18, 9-12) on Sunday, 6-1. The Panthers were held to four hits in the loss.
The Owls got to freshman right-hander
Chris Mourelle early. FAU opened up the first inning with two runs, courtesy of a two-run homer from Brandon Sanger to give the Owls a 2-0 lead. After plating three in the second, FAU scored another on a two-out RBI single by Stephen Kerr.
FIU's lone run came in the seventh inning, a leadoff home run for junior
Josh Anderson, to cut the Owl lead to 6-1.
Freshman
Gunnar McNeill came in to relieve Mourelle and allowed just one base runner on a walk in four innings of work. Senior
Mike Gomez and sophomore
Jason Morozowski combined for 2 1/3 innings of scoreless ball to close out the game.
FIU will be back in action next weekend with a four-game series with St. Peter's.
