MIAMI (Sept. 18, 2014) – Looking to build on a two-game win streak at home, the FIU women's soccer team (4-3-0) hosts games four and five of a seven-game home stand this weekend. The Panthers start out with the Stetson Hatters on Friday, with a first kick time of 5 p.m. FIU then turns its attention to No. 23 Long Beach State on Sunday at 1 p.m. This weekend will also serve as Parents' Weekend for the Panthers.

HERE Scouting the Hatters – Series HistoryPicked to finish fourth in the A-Sun preseason coaches' poll, second-year Head Coach Manoj Khettry and his squad come to Miami carrying a 1-6-1 record, most recently falling 7-0 to No. 5 Florida State. The Hatters have struggled on offense, as the group is being heavily outscored, 30-6. On only two occasions Stetson has been able to string together multi-goal games, one of which finished in a 2-2 2OT draw. Eduarda Pavao serves as the Hatters leading goal scorer (2), while three different goalies have stood between the pipes this season. Carrying the brute of the workload have been Karlie Hightower and Ashley Ingolia.
The Panthers carry a heavy, 14-4-1, advantage over the Hatters, most recently winning, 2-0, on the road last season.
Scouting No. 23 49ers – Series HistoryCurrently ranked No. 23 in the latest NCSAA poll, the Long Beach State 49ers had a five-game unbeaten streak intact before falling, 2-0, to BYU. Powered by a young talent, freshman Ashley Gonzalez has been the Big West offensive player of the week in consecutive weeks this season, as she also paces her team with four goals and 10 points.
FIU and Long Beach State will be meeting for the first time in series history on Sunday.
