@FIUWBB Hosts 2015 Turkey Slam this Weekend

MIAMI (Nov. 25, 2015) – The FIU women's basketball team (1-2) will host the 2015 Turkey Slam this weekend as Marquette (0-4), Wichita State (0-3) and Richmond (4-0) visit Lime Court at FIU Arena.
 
The action will begin on Friday, Nov. 27, with FIU taking on Marquette at noon. Following Game One, Richmond will take on Wichita State at 2 p.m.

Sunday's matchups will be determined by Friday's results. The first game on Sunday, Nov. 29, will feature a pair of teams yet to be determined followed by the Panthers taking on either Wichita State or Richmond at 2 p.m.
 
FIU comes into this weekend's tournament, averaging 68.7 points-per-game on 41.4 percent shooting from the floor. Having made 121 treys in two games this season, the Panthers rank No. 71 in the nation in 3-point shots made-per-game and have converted 32.8 percent of their shots from beyond the arc. FIU has been solid from the charity stripe, making 74.5 percent of the team's shots from the free throw line (No. 47 in the nation).
 
The Panthers are led in scoring by junior Janka Hegedus, who is averaging 17.7 points-per-game. The Budapest, Hungary, product is shooting 48.7 percent (19-of-39) from the floor. Senior Taylor Shade is second on the team, averaging 11.7 points-per-game. Rounding out the top scorers is senior Destini Feagan, who comes into Friday's game averaging 10.0 points-per-contest. Junior Tianah Alvarado has been good from beyond the arc, shooting 58.3 percent from 3-point range (No. 13 in the nation).
