@FIUWBB to Host UMass Lowell on Friday

MIAMI (Dec. 3, 2015) – The FIU women's basketball team (1-4) will host the UMass Lowell River Hawks (1-5) on Friday, Dec. 4, from Lime Court at FIU Arena. Tipoff is slated for 5 p.m. ET.

The Panthers are looking to rebound from a 76-62 loss to Wichita State on Sunday and snap a current four-game losing skid.
 
FIU is averaging 70.2 points-per-game on 42.3 percent shooting from the floor. Having made 36 treys in five games this season, the Panthers rank No. 70 in the nation in 3-point shots made-per-game and have converted 35.0 percent of their shots from beyond the arc. FIU has been solid from the charity stripe, making 76.3 percent of the team's shots from the free-throw line (No. 24 in the nation).
 
The Panthers are led in scoring by junior Janka Hegedus, who is averaging 15.2 points-per-game. The Budapest, Hungary, product is shooting 49.1 percent (27-of-55) from the floor. Senior Taylor Shade is second on the team, averaging 14.2 points-per-game. Shade was named to last weekend's Turkey Slam All-Tournament Team and is shooting 43.8 percent (21-of-48) from the floor.  Junior Tianah Alvarado comes into Friday's game averaging 13.6 points-per-game and leads the team in made 3-pointers (13). Alvarado is shooting 50.0 percent from downtown (No. 26 in the nation), while leading the team in steals, averaging 3.60 per game (No. 15 in the nation). Rounding out the top scorers is senior Destini Feagan, who comes into this weekend's game averaging 10.6 points-per-contest.
