FIU Women’s Tennis Drops 4-2 Decision to No. 48 Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Feb. 9, 2015) – The FIU women's tennis team (2-3) dropped a 4-2 decision to the No.48-ranked Yale Bulldogs (2-3) on Monday afternoon at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center in New Haven, Conn.
 
FIU took an early 1-0 lead, taking 2-of-3 matches in doubles play. Yale won the first match as junior Kaitlin Brozovich and sophomore Valentina Briceno lost to Ree Ree Li and Valerie Shklover, 6-0. FIU responded winning the next two matches as sophomore Nina Nagode and junior Carlotta Orlando defeated Hanna Yu and Courtney Amos, 6-3, and senior Yana Koroleva and freshman Nerma Caluk downed Sherry Li and Carol Finke, 6-3.
 
In singles action, the Bulldogs tied the match a 1-all, as Finke defeated Caluk, 6-2, 6-1. Yale took a 2-1 lead following a 6-1, 6-3 loss by Brozovich to Shklover. Orlando tied the match a 2-2 with her seventh-straight singles victory, topping R. Li, 6-2, 6-2. Yale responded, winning the next two singles matches (Caroline Lynch defeated Briceno, 6-0, 6-4, and S. Li downed Nagode, 7-6 [3], 6-3) to take the contest, 4-2.  
 
FIU will next travel to Chestnut Hill, Mass., to take on Boston College on Friday, Feb. 20. First serve is set for 5:00 p.m.
