MIAMI (April 21, 2015) –The FIU baseball team (17-22) will host the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish (21-18) on Wednesday in a mid-week, non-conference showdown. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. ET from the FIU Baseball Stadium.
Fans can listen to FIU's @PetePelegrin on the call Wednesday on the FIU Sports Radio Network.
The game will mark the first meeting between the two programs since the 1994 season, when FIU earned a 24-5 victory. Wednesday's contest will be the 14th meeting all-time between the two teams with FIU holding a 13-0 lead in the series history.
FIU is hitting .270 as a team with 24 home runs and 199 RBI. Senior
Brian Portelli leads the team with a .338 batting average and has a squad-best 52 hits and 14 doubles. Junior
Edwin Rios leads the team with 11 home runs on the year and is hitting .302 while driving in an FIU-best 33 runs.
The FIU pitching staff comes into Wednesday's game with a 4.49 ERA with 297 strikeouts in 343 innings pitched.
