@FIUWSoccer Hosts UC Irvine, #12 Florida this Weekend

MIAMI (Sept. 17, 2015) – The FIU women's soccer team (3-4-0) closes out its non-conference schedule this weekend, as the Panthers are set to play two games from the FIU Soccer Stadium. UC-Irvine comes to town for a 7 p.m. matchup on Friday, while the 12th-ranked Florida Gators will play FIU in a Sunday afternoon matinee at 1 p.m.

SCOUTING THE ANTEATERS
UC Irvine arrives on Friday with three wins on the season, the same number of wins through seven games last season. Their only tie came against a tough USC team (1-1). The Anteaters are riding a two-game losing streak, being outscored a combined 5-1 in both contests. Tatyana Garrett leads her squad with two goals.
 
SCOUTING THE GATORS
The Gators are ranked No. 12 in the latest NSCAA poll, dropping two spots from their No. 10 ranking last week. Junior Savannah Jordan has the most goals for Florida and the SEC this season with seven, coupled with her 30 shots.  Florida looks to bounce-back after a split weekend against Texas A&M (L, 2-1) and Jacksonville (W, 4-0).
 
EFFICIENT ELLEN
Ellen Crist notched her first-career goal in impressive fashion, as the junior forward scored not once, but twice within the final 10 minutes of FIU's match versus North Florida. FIU went on to win the match, 2-0.
 
TWO IS COMPANY, THREE IS A CROWD
After her goal on Sept. 6 at Miami (OH), Madlen Weinhardt now has 32 career points, putting the Germany native three points shy of cracking FIU's top 10 for career points (35).
