DeLAND, Fla. (Feb. 7, 2016) – The FIU women's tennis team (3-1) claimed its second-straight 7-0 victory, defeating Bethune-Cookman on Sunday afternoon from the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
FIU took a 1-0 lead after winning the doubles portion of the match. Senior
Carlotta Orlando and redshirt freshman
Andrea Lazaro defeated Hilary Hanton and Karen Romero, 6-1, while sophomore
Nerma Caluk and senior
Kaitlin Brozovich downed Ancia Ifill and Alejandra Vidal, 6-2.
In singles play, freshman
Maryna Veksler defeated Mina Matsuba, 6-1, 6-2, and junior
Nina Nagode defeated Matea Roki, 6-1, 6-1. Orlando topped Hanton, 6-0, 6-1; Lazaro defeated Ifill, 6-3, 6-1; Caluk downed Romero, 6-2, 6-0 and Brozovich won over Vidal, 6-1, 6-2, as FIU earned all six singles' points.
With the win, FIU improves to 4-0 all-time versus the Wildcats.
FIU will next travel to Atlanta, Ga., to take on Georgia State on Friday, Feb. 19. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
