BOCA RATON -- Jared Shouppe singled home David Miranda in the bottom of the 10
th inning to give Florida Atlantic a 9-8 walk-off win over FIU Saturday night at FAU Stadium.
The Owls (28-13-1, 14-6 Conference USA) have won the first two games of the series from the Panthers (26-19, 10-10).
FIU took an 8-6 lead in the top of the ninth inning after
JC Escarra's bloop single with the bases loaded scored
Irving Lopez and
Jack Schaaf.
However, FAU sent the game into extra innings after pinch-hitter Sean Labsan hit a two-run home run off
Chandler Raiden with two outs.
In the 10
th, Miranda singled off
Robert Garcia (4-5). Stephen Kerr walked before Shouppe delivered the game-winning hit.
FIU hit four solo home runs in the game. Escarra hit his team-leading 11
th in the eighth.
Javier Valdes went back-to-back with Escarra in the eighth to tie the score 6-6.
Kenny Meimerstorf and
Irving Lopez also went deep.
The Panthers got a good start out of
Tyler Myrick, who went six innings, allowed eight hits and two runs.
FIU and FAU conclude the three-game set Sunday at 12 p.m. from Boca Raton.
