The Basics 

• FIU came up short 3-2 in the first game of conference play this season against the University of Texas San Antonio Road-Runners.
• The Panthers took the lead early on in the second inning after Natalie Orcutt's line-drive to left-field managed to stay in fair territory. Orcutt would end up at second and Kasandra Castle would score to put FIU on top 1-0. Orcutt would finish the game 2-for-3 with an RBI.
• Headed to the seventh down 3-1, Castle would record her second hit of the game with a deep blast over the right-field fence. However, that would be all that FIU could muster, falling to UTSA 3-2.
• Shannon Saile threw her xx complete of the season and racked up 11 strike outs, while allowing three runs – two earned, on three hits. Saile came into the weekend leading the country in strike outs. She now has 143 strike outs on the season.

The Basics 

• FIU dropped game two of the double-header against UTSA, 2-0.
• Despite a strong pitching performance from Allison Muraskin, the Panthers couldn't put together timely hits with runners on base. Muraskin pitched a complete game allowing two runs on five hits while striking out five.
• Jackie Schoff went 3-for-3 and has now raised her batting average this season to .383. Schoff came into the series ranked second inside C-USA in hits and tied for 17^th nationally.

Next up for FIU 
The Panthers wrap up the series tomorrow afternoon against UTSA at Felsberg Field at the FIU Softball Complex. First pitch on Sunday is set for 1:00 p.m.
