Panther Q&A: Fujika Nimmo

Get to know the freshman guard

MIAMI (July 23, 2019) – Next up in our Q&A series with FIU women's basketball is guard Fujika Nimmo. The freshman is one of the latest incoming Panthers to join the team this fall. 
 
Nimmo is a native of Davenport, Florida, playing her prep career at Haines City High School in Haines, Florida. The 5-8 guard comes to FIU with a lengthy resume already in tow, after earning 9A Player of the Year and District Player of the Year distinctions last season. She averaged 27.4 points per contest at Haines City HS last year, which ranked 34th nationally and third in the state according to MaxPreps.com. Nimmo also earned 6.0 rebounds and 5.2 assists per contest to go along with her scoring clip. Nimmo is rated as a four-star prospect by ProspectsNation.com.

Q: Describe Miami to a person who has never been
A: "Miami is a fast city, there's so many things to do in all sorts of areas."

Q: What are you most looking forward to here at FIU?
A: "I'm looking forward to meeting new people."

Q: Why did you choose FIU?
A: "I chose FIU because it's in a place full of opportunities once I graduate."

Q: What's your favorite food?
A: "My favorite food is cheese pizza."
 
Q: Describe your fashion style
A: "I try to keep up with trends, but I'm a tomboy."
 
Q: What are your thoughts on the coaching staff?
A: "They're a great group of people who push me to be the best that I can be."
 
Q: What goals do you have for 2019?
A: "My goal is to get better somehow someway every day. Progress little by little."

Q: What's your favorite meme?
A: "My favorite meme is Soulja Boy saying Drake."
