Panther Q&A: Alana Swift

Get to know the freshman guard

MIAMI (July 30, 2019) – Next up in our Q&A series with FIU women's basketball is guard Alana Swift. The freshman will be joining Panthers this fall. 
 
Swift is a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native that averaged 12.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest while at Imhotep Charter School in Philadelphia as a junior, while leading her squad to a 22-8 record and perfect 13-0 mark. She was also named to the 3A All-State Second Team during her prep career. Swift is rated as a four-star prospect by ProspectsNation.com.

Q: What are your thoughts on the coaching staff? 
A: "I think they're good, we just have a lot of growing to do." 

Q: What are you most looking forward to here at FIU?
A: "I'm looking forward to winning some games and making the women's basketball team something everyone wants to watch."

Q: Why did you choose FIU?
A: "I chose FIU because it's always felt like family."

Q: What goals do you have for 2019?
A: "Be the best person I can be."

Q: What professional player do you model your game after?
A: "I would say I play like Chris Paul."

Q: Describe Miami to a person who has never been
A: "Really busy, it's hot but also a very beautiful city and place to be."

Q: So far, what has been your favorite thing about Miami?
A: "Just being able to sit by the water and chill."

Q: What's your favorite food?
A: "Pepper Steak."
