MIAMI (Aug. 7, 2019) – Next up in our Q&A series with FIU women's basketball is guard
Diene Diane. The junior transfer will be joining Panthers this fall.
Diane, a 5-10 French native, comes to FIU after playing collegiately for two seasons at Gulf Coast State College (Panama City, Florida). As a freshman, Diane played 30 games while averaging 4.2 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. The forward played 30 games as a sophomore as well, averaging 6.8 and 2.2 rebounds per contest. Diane also has experience on the national stage, playing for her home country and winning a gold medal at the 3x3 U18 FIBA World Cup.
Q: What are your thoughts on the coaching staff?
A: "I love the staff. I like practicing with them, and lifting. They try to make everything fun and I really like that. This staff keeps my motivation high every day."
Q: What are you most looking forward to here at FIU?
A: "I want FIU to help me reach my goals, which are playing professionally overseas and getting a degree."
Q: Why did you choose FIU?
A: "I think FIU was the best choice for me because I appreciate the coaches, I think they're really going to push me and help me reach my goals. Also, I really liked the school when I visited and it's an international school. I think it's good for me because I'm French so I would be with other students from different countries."
Q: What goals do you have for 2019?
A: "Win games. Be ready for the season and be the best on the court. Give the best of myself to my team."
Q: What professional player do you model your game after?
A: "I like Skylar Diggins, Maya Moore, Sue Bird."
Q: Describe Miami to a person who has never been
A: "It's a big city with a lot of different cultures."
Q: What's your favorite food?
A: "French food."
