Panthers battle the Mean Green in Denton

MIAMI (Oct. 7, 2021) – The FIU women's soccer team hits the road for another Conference USA showdown this Friday, Oct. 8, when the Panthers travel to battle the North Texas Mean Green. 

First kick is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at the North Texas Soccer Stadium.

MATCHUP PREVIEW
The Panthers are looking for their first C-USA win of the year after posting an 0-2-2 record in their first four games. FIU has seen three of its four league contests extend into overtime this season. North Texas owns a 6-3-3 overall record and is entering the contest sitting at fourth place in the West Division standings with a 1-2-1 C-USA record. The Mean Green's last match resulted in a 1-0 loss to UTSA on the road. Like FIU, North Texas has also reached overtime in three of its four league games this season.
 
SCOUTING THE MEAN GREEN
North Texas ranks third overall in C-USA in goals-per-game (2) and second in goals allowed (0.67). The Mean Green also ranks first overall in shot attempts, with an average of 19.33 per contest. North Texas has held its opponents to just 7.6 shots-per-game.
 
The Mean Green offense is led by Taylor Tufts, who has recorded seven assists on the season and ranks first overall in C-USA. Between the pipes, Sarah Fuller has tallied a league-best seven shutouts this year, while posting a 6-3-3 record in starts. The Mean Green attack is led by
 
FIU BY THE NUMBERS
Noemi Paquin leads the team in points (8) and goals (4) this season, including three scores during conference play. Paquin (13), Laia Muñoz Danon (10), and Kédie Johnson (7) are leading the squad in shot attempts during C-USA play.

Sydney Amparo ranks third-overall in C-USA with 1.58 shots-on-goal per game. Amparo also leads FIU with 27 total shot attempts, including a team-high 19 on-goal.
 
The backline trio of Regan Bridges, Camille Sahirul, and Carmen Marin have started every game for FIU this season and have each broken the century mark in minutes-played. Bridges leads FIU with 1,148 minutes-played, while Sahirul (1,069) and Marin (1,053) follow closely behind. 
 
Ithaisa Vinoly ranks first overall in C-USA with 5.0 saves per match.

The Panthers return home to host WKU next Friday, Oct. 15. Kickoff against the Hilltoppers is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET at FIU Soccer Stadium.
