MIAMI (March 12, 2021) - After a month away from home, the FIU softball team finally returns to Felsberg Field this weekend as the Panthers host South Dakota for a three-game series. 

The series will open with a doubleheader on Saturday, as the Panthers and Coyotes play at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The series finale is set for 10 a.m. on Sunday morning to conclude the weekend. Both of Saturday's games will be streamed on Facebook LIVE (@FIUSoftball). 

LAST TIME OUT
FIU capped its 13-game road swing at No. 24 UCF on Thursday, as the Panthers couldn't overcome the ranked Knights on the road. Venessa Gallegos went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, which was her third overall of the season. Alexis Ross, Jocelyn Alonso and Tori Jones also collected hits on the afternoon. 

SCOUTING THE FOE
South Dakota enters the weekend at 4-10 overall, prior to its doubleheader at FAU on Friday afternoon. The Coyotes have toured the Sunshine State this past week, playing Florida, Stetson, FAU and FIU before returning back home. Lauren Wobken leads the team at the plate, hitting .304 and racking up 10 RBI.

UP NEXT
After the weekend home series, the Panthers will be off until next Sunday, as the Panthers host FAU on March 21 for a single-game C-USA contest. First pitch between the Panthers and the Owls is set for 3 p.m.
