MIAMI - FIU Women's Basketball will be back at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center for a matchup against Yale for the first time since 1998 on Saturday, December 7 at 1 p.m.

The Panthers are coming off a 1-1 showing at the FIU Thanksgiving Classic, beating Wagner in the first round of the two-round tournament before falling to Abilene Christian in the championship matchup, 87-67.
The Panthers kept the score close for the majority of the matchup, starting off with a back and forth affair in the first quarter before the Wildcats went on 12-0 run to take a 25-13 lead into the second frame.
FIU would go on to outscore the Wildcats 20-17 in the second quarter, but would head into the half down 42-33. Lucia Fleta Robles used a three-pointer at the halftime buzzer to bring the Panthers within single-digits.
FIU would outscore ACU again in the third quarter, this time 23-19, with 12 of FIU points in the frame coming from junior Angena Belloso. The Spanish-Native ended the matchup with a career-high 19 points to go along with seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.Â
The Panthers went into the final quarter down 61-56 but could not hold claw their way to the victory.Â
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale was picked sixth in the Ivy League Preseason Poll, but has faltered to start the season, currently sitting at 1-9 on the season, starting off their campaign with a victory over Monmouth, and since falling nine consecutive games. They have scored 53.3 points per game and allowed 69.1 points per game, both of which are last in the Ivy League.Â
Yale is led by senior Mackenzie Egger with 15.7 points per game on the year thus far, fifth in the Ivy League. The combo guard/forward also yields 9.9 rebounds per game, first in her conference.Â
No other Bulldog is averaging double-digits scoring so far this season, however freshman guard Marisa Chapman is eighth in the Ivy League in rebounding, grabbing six rebounds a game to go along with 5.2 points per game, 1.2 assists per game and 1.1 steals per game.
The Panthers and Bulldogs have faced-off one time prior to their upcoming matchup, when FIU came out victorious over Yale,77-63 on December 28, 1998.
