Parris Atkins and Fantasia James were both honored with CUSA All-Conference awards last season. Parris Atkins, then in her first season as a Panther, was an immediate contributor and made the CUSA All-Conference Second Team. James, a redshirt freshman at the time, was named to the CUSA All-Freshman Team for her performance during the 2024-25 season.

FIU has the most international players rostered in Conference USA. The Panthers boast 12 of their 14 players born outside of the United States.

FIU is coming off a 2024-25 season that saw the Panthers go 11-18 overall and 7-11 in conference-play, ending sixth in the conference.

SCOUTING THE BEARS

Missouri State enters the contest following an 8–5 non-conference slate. The Bears opened the season on a five-game winning streak, highlighted by victories over Saint Louis, Wichita State, and Georgia Southern. A team that consistently shows resilience, Missouri State played several Power Four opponents close, including Florida State (L, 85–75) and Kansas (L, 73–70, OT).

The Bears are led by Kaemyn Bekemeier, who is tied for second in the conference in scoring with FIU's Parris Atkins, averaging 17.2 points per game through 13 contests. An athletic 5'9" junior guard, Bekemeier also leads the team on the glass with 8.3 rebounds per game, ranking eighth in the conference. She is complemented by forward Lainie Douglas, who enters the matchup averaging 12.5 points per game. One of the top post defenders in Conference USA, the sophomore averages 1.4 blocks per game, which ranks third in the league.

The Panthers will look to open Conference USA play with a victory for just the fourth time since joining the league in the 2013–14 season. The most recent instance came during the 2023–24 campaign, when FIU defeated Jacksonville State.
