The Panthers (6-4) come back to Miami after a two-game midweek set at #10 Florida (Feb. 24-25). FIU fell 17-11 in Tuesday's opener before dropping Wednesday's contest, 11-4.
Despite the results, the Panthers' offense was productive against the top-10 opponent, combining for 27 hits and 15 runs over the two games, including a 16-hit effort Tuesday night.
Through 10 games, FIU has totaled 99 hits — ranking 17th nationally and first in Conference USA. The team has five games of 10 or more hits to begin the season.
Samuel Fischer has served as the team's catalyst, batting a team-best .452 through 10 games. He leads FIU with 14 hits to go along with one double, one triple, three home runs and nine RBI. Fischer produced a three-hit performance at Florida on Tuesday, including an RBI double, and erupted for nine hits, seven RBI and three home runs in last weekend's four-game series vs. Holy Cross. His four-hit performance on Feb. 22 marked a career high.
Luca Reyes showcased his power against Holy Cross, launching three home runs and driving in 13 RBI during the series. His signature moment came in game two of Saturday's doubleheader, when he delivered eight RBI — including a walk-off grand slam. The eight-RBI performance marked the most by a Panther since 2024. Reyes leads the team and Conference USA with 17 RBI, ranks second in the league with four home runs and sits among the top 15 nationally in RBI.
Andrew Ildefonso has started all 10 games and opened the season on a 10-game hitting streak. The redshirt sophomore has recorded 11 RBI and homered Wednesday at Florida. He tallied three hits in Gainesville, including a two-run double Tuesday.
Cooper Rasmussen posted his first career three-hit game Wednesday in the leadoff spot and owns a 1.150 OPS with two home runs and four RBI.
Mario Trivella is tied for the team lead with four home runs and has driven in 11 RBI, including a solo homer in Wednesday's contest at Florida.
Hector Candelas recorded back-to-back multi-hit games in Gainesville, collecting two hits in each game, including a double and an RBI.
The FIU pitching staff has struck out 90 batters over 91 innings this season, leading Conference USA.

Jeremy Urena matched a career high with seven strikeouts over 4.2 innings last weekend.
George Adams allowed one run across four innings in Saturday's opener and is set to face his former team after beginning his collegiate career at Stony Brook.

Quin McManmon earned Tuesday's start at Florida, striking out four over 2.1 innings.
Julian Mlodzinski made Wednesday's start, allowing three earned runs in 1.2 innings.
HISTORY WITH THE SEAWOLVES
This weekend marks the 11th–13th all-time meetings between the two programs, with FIU holding an 8-2 series advantage.
The teams last met in February 2019, when FIU won the series finale 13-2 at home.
