BOCA RATON, Fla. (Jan. 30, 2015) – The FIU swimming and diving team remained perfect on Friday afternoon by knocking off rival Florida Atlantic, 131.5-91.5. The Panthers will look to finish their dual meet season undefeated on Saturday when the team heads over to Coral Gables to take on the Miami Hurricanes.
"The team performed very well today," said head coach
Randy Horner. " I'm happy with where we are at this point in the season. We had lots of in-season best times today. We are looking forward to racing Miami tomorrow. They will be a good test to finish our dual meet season."
FIU opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay. Freshman

Klara Andersson, freshman
Letitzia Bertelli and sophomore
Jennifer Deist strung together a time of 1:44.12 to earn a first place finish to give the Panthers points. Scalia, Bertelli and Andersson were part of another victorious relay team, as they joined junior
Karin Tomeckova to earn a time of 1:36.44 in the 200 freestyle relay.
In the fifth event of the meet, sophomore
Becky Wilde swam the 400 IM and touched the wall in 4:35.08 to earn a first place finish. Scalia earned her third win of the day, posting a time of 55.32 in the 100 backstroke. Freshman
Kyna Periera remained perfect in the long distance freestyles, as she won the 500 by swimming it in 4:57.46. Freshman
Chase Harris rounded out the individual swim event winners for FIU, winning 100 breaststroke earning a time of 1:06.08.
Reigning Conference USA Diver of the Week
Rebecca Quesnel had another good day in the diving events. She earned the win in the one-meter diving posting a score of 293.02. In the three-meter diving, she took a second place finish, earning a mark of 293.02 as well.
Saturday's meet at Miami will begin at noon. Admission is free.
