Last Time Out
In a clash of pre-season Conference USA favorites, the Panthers made it consecutive weeks with series wins over a team receiving votes. Down 7-0 and looking at the chance of being run-ruled in the first of three against UAB on Thursday night, FIU's bats unloaded and put up a nine-run bottom of the third inning, eventually going on to post a season-high 16 runs in the victory. Sophomore Ashley Leon (1-for-5), junior Aleima Lopez (3-for-5) and freshman Ashley Belans (3-for-3) each plated a game-high three-RBI for FIU, while eight of the Panthers' starting nine registered at least one RBI in the contest.

After registering two quick outs in the top of the seventh of the rubber match on Friday night, UAB scored the go-ahead run off a stolen base by Caitlyn Attfield. Two errors on the play allowed her to score from second base. Senior Shelby Graves sent the first pitch she saw in the bottom of the seventh to right field and was pinch ran for by redshirt sophomore Marisa McGregor. Freshman Erin Eiland put herself and McGregor in scoring position off a double to left-center field and with one out, senior Rebekah Sanchez' chopper up the middle allowed McGregor to score and tie the game at 3-3. Sophomore Stephanie Texeira sent the first pitch she was given over the second baseman's head for the game-winner.

Tex. vs. the Nation
Stephanie Texeira finds herself in the nation's top 50 in five different categories, highlighted by her No. 8 ranking in on-base percentage (.607), which also first in Conference USA, in addition to having the 47th-best batting average in all of NCAA Div. I softball (.441), which is good for third in the league. She finds herself ranked eighth in walks, averaging just over one walk-per-game, the most in her conference.

Double Down
Gabby Spallone leads Conference USA in doubles with 12, while the Panthers have three players occupying the top five spots in the league, as Stephanie Texeira (10) and Ashley Belans (10) are tied for third.

In Good Company
Junior ace Corinne Jenkins' picked up her 45th-career win on Friday over UAB. With the victory, she's just two wins shy of 47, which would move her into a tie for third all-time in program history.
